Hi Jens,
When people sign up for newsletters, they already know that you will send them some advertisements or sales letters in addition to what you offer them. You can use products reviews or recommendations to encourage them to get whatever products you promoting for. So there is no need to tell them what you are going to do.

This is not a spam as you are recommending some good products for them to try or buy and they the one who agreed to gave you their email addresses. It is only spam when they did not agree to give you any contact details and yet you still send advertisement emails to them.

Some great tips, but what do you do if you are going to use their e-mail address to send them various offers?

Do you tell them that you will send them stuff later on, or do you just ask them to sign up for the newsletter, or to sign up to download the free software without telling them what you have in mind for them?

If you don't tell them, and you start sending them e-mail, isn't that considered spamming?
